What is Constipation?

Constipation is a condition where bowel movements become infrequent, difficult, or painful. It occurs when stool moves too slowly through the digestive tract, becoming hard and dry. 

Types of Constipation 

  1. Primary Constipation – Due to poor diet, dehydration, or lifestyle factors. 
  2. Secondary Constipation – Caused by underlying medical conditions like hypothyroidism or medications. 
  3. Chronic Constipation – Long-term, recurring constipation. 
  4. Acute Constipation – Sudden onset, often due to temporary changes in diet or routine.
